The connections of world champion standardbred race horse Somebeachsomewhere have confirmed they have purchased the Toyota car dealership in Amherst.
Brent MacGrath of Truro, trainer of the worlds fastest pacer, told the Amherst Daily News that he and Gary Pye have expanded their automobile dealership holdings by acquiring the dealership.
Glen Roberts will be the general manager of the operation.
A?new facility is currently under construction on the Trans-Canada Highway, near Exit 4.
MacGrath and Pye have been partners in the automobile industry in Truro for some 20 years.
They are among six members of the harness racing syndicate Schooner Stables that owns the three-year-old pacing stallion?Somebeach-somewhere, a winner of $2.55-million. The colt won his last race on Saturday at Lexington, Ky, when he won a division of the Tattersalls Stake in 1:47.4.
After the race, it was announced that the horse would stand at stud in 2009 at world famous Hanover Shoe Farm in Pennsylvania. Although the financial details were not released, the breeding deal is worth millions of dollars.
