BIBLE HILL - The Canadian Cancer Society is appealing to the public for help in filling some key roles for Truro's 2009 Relay for Life.
District co-ordinator Susan Kaiser is
looking to fill several positions, the most prominent of which include the relay leadership co-chairs.
"I'm pretty much starting from scratch," said Kaiser, referring to the lack of volunteers for the positions.
"It's making me nervous because we
(normally) would have already had our first meeting."
The shortage comes after many of the head organizers who served over the last few years decided to take a step back for a change,
she said.
No experience is necessary to fill the positions, although some experience serving on committees would be an asset.
Staff will also be available to help train and work with anyone who does come forward to help fill a leadership position. In fact, a similar experience marked her entrance in the Relay for Life world, said Kaiser
"I had no idea what I was doing at first, but I learned and I had guidance."
Anyone interested in filling one of the roles can call Kaiser at 902-752-2694 or drop her an e-mail at susan.kaiser@ns.cancer.ca.
The relay has a special place in her heart ever since her own son was diagnosed with cancer six years ago, she said.
"The relay for me is a way for me to
give back and I know I'm making a difference.
With every dollar we raise we are making a
difference."
