Canadas Rochon just misses podium at Noram freestyle moguls event

KILLINGTON, Vt. Cedric Rochon of St. Sauveur, Que., was the top Canadian on Sunday at the Noram freestyle ski competition in Vermont.

Rochon placed fourth in the mens dual moguls event

Im happy with my first time in the top four, said Rochon, 18, who began the season with a pair of top-10 placings at the U.S. team selection meet in Park City, Utah.

I skied pretty good, but the course was so hard. I just stayed focused and stayed on top of my game.

He missed the podium Sunday by losing the bronze to David Digravio of the U.S. Americans swept the medals, as Sho Kashima defeated Jeremy Cota in the gold-medal dual.

Chris Wong, formerly of Prince George, B.C., and now living in Montreal, was back competing following a serious knee injury in February 2007. The 2006 Olympian finished 12th.

In the womens, Jackie Brown of Cambridge, Ont., finished ninth overall.

Eliza Outtrim led an American sweep of the womens medals by winning the gold dual against Whitney Henceroth. The bronze medal went to Annie Serra.
