The Swift Current Comp. Ardens moved one step closer to a ninth straight Moose Jaw High School Soccer League regular season title with two road wins Saturday.
The Ardens opened the day with a 6-1 win over the Moose Jaw Vanier Spirits. Grade 10 striker Santana Gowan paced the attack with two goals and an assist and Brooke Vallee assisted on three goals from the central midfield. Ashley Eben and Kelsey Therrien scored two goals apiece as well. Leia Anderson and Andrea Erlandson both added assists in the win.
Cassandra Furey-Cameron and Hannah Dyck shared the win in goal. The only blemish came when a late turnover resulted in a Vanier goal, snapping the Ardens’ shutout streak at 439 minutes.
The four-time defending league champions unleashed on the Caronport Cougars in their afternoon match, receiving goals from six different players in a 10-0 victory. Gowan added three goals to her total and Vallee scored once and set up three goals.
Kelsey Therrien and Haley Bissonnette both registered a goal and two assists. Eben and Payton Schwan both scored and added assists, while Karrie Therrien scored twice. Jessica Driver chipped in a single assist.
Dyck and Karrie Therrien shared the shutout in goal.
The Ardens will look to clinch top spot in the regular season and a bye into the semi-finals when they host the Moose Jaw Central Cyclones on Monday at 4:15 p.m. at Irwin Field.
