The defending champion Swift Current Comp. Ardens opened their regular season in the Moose Jaw High School Soccer League with a 6-0 win over Moose Jaw Vanier on Thursday.
In a rematch of the 2009 league final, the Ardens jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead and never looked back as grade nine rookie goalkeeper Beriah Klein earned the shutout.
Kaity Letwiniuk scored two goals in the opening seven minutes and added a third in the 53rd minute to help seal the win.
Grade 12 Daryl Wiebe converted a rebound for a 3-0 lead in the eighth minute for her first goal of the young season.
Grade 10 centre halfback Cassidy Andres blasted a 20-yard shot into the net to make it 4-0 in the 28th minute and added her second of the game in the 78 minute to close the scoring.
Next action for the Ardens will be Tuesday when they host Moose Jaw Central at 4:15 p.m. at Irwin Field.
