TRURO - Sending a Liberal MP to Ottawa is the primary goal of the local federal Liberal Party, the association's new president says.
"Ultimately, we want to see a Liberal MP in our riding," said Lindsay McKinnon, who was elected last weekend as the president of the Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley riding. "Certainly, over the next couple of months I have to get my bearings and talk to people in the riding and work on a strategy for the future."
Other major goals include fundraising and increasing the association's membership.
McKinnon, 31, is a chartered accountant who lives in Onslow. She replaces outgoing president Eleanor Norrie. Mary Dee MacPherson of Amherst is the new vice-president.
