Richard Hope scored 39 points and Ryan Budd added 19 as the Amherst Regional High School Vikings upset Breton Education Centre 85-72 to capture the championship at the ARHS Vikings Tip-off Basketball Tournament on Saturday.
Sammy Mohamad had 13 points, Kevin LePage five and C.J. Curtis one point for Amherst while Kyle MacDonald had 32 for the Bears and Jeremy Pioreson scored 17.
Collin Larade with 11, Tyler Bishop and Kyle Burns with four apiece, Tyler Matheson with three and Kenny Power with one point also scored for BEC.
"This was big win for us as it will rank us as one of the top teams in Division 2," Vikings' coach Reg Caulfield said. "The players executed the game plan and must be given high accolades for their performance."
Hope said, "this is a motivational win for us and we can only get better as the season progresses."
