Pugwash boys, Oxford girls off to provincials

PUGWASH - The Pugwash Panthers are going to the Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation Division 4 boys soccer championship following a thrilling double-overtime win in qualifying action Saturday.
Matthew Blaikie's goal in the second extra period was the difference as Pugwash defeated Cape Breton Highlands Academy 1-0. Kris Allen was outstanding in goal for Pugwash making several key stops, including a penalty kick in the second half.
On the girls side, Lindsay Blake and Emily Davis scored for the Oxford Lady Golden Bears in a 2-1 win over the host Pugwash Lady Panthers.
Karli Boyd scored late in the game for Pugwash. Oxford advances to the provincial Division 4 championship this weekend in Halifax.
