Nick MacNeil's scoring touch was all the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles needed to keep pace in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's competitive Atlantic Division.
MacNeil scored all three of Cape Breton's goals as the Screaming Eagles downed the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 3-1 on Wednesday.
Luke Adam assisted on all three goals in the victory, which allowed Cape Breton to stay competitive in the Atlantic, which has been a hotly contested division early in the season.
Moncton, which lost 4-2 to Chicoutimi on Wednesday, is tied with Saint John atop the division with 13 points. The Screaming Eagles (5-2-2) and P.E.I. are a point back with 12 each, while Acadie-Bathurst is in the mix with 11.
Only the Halifax Mooseheads, with just two points in 10 games, have a losing record in the Atlantic.
At Sydney, N.S., Ben Miller had the only goal for the Huskies.
Olivier Roy made 22 saves for Cape Breton, while Mickael Audette stopped 22 shots for Rouyn-Noranda.
Sagueneens 4 Wildcats 2
At Chicoutimi, Que., Nicolas Deschamps had two goals and an assist as the Sagueneens defeated Moncton.
Michal Hlinka and Rock Regimbald also scored for Chicoutimi (3-4-3).
Randy Cameron had both goals for Moncton (6-3-1).
