SPRINGHILL - The rivalry between the Ross Refrigeration Cumberland County Cool Blues and the Pictou County Scotians will be in full gear Friday night at the Richard Calder Arena.
The Cool Blues will be looking to stop a two-game losing skid in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League, while the Scotians are looking for their fourth straight win.
"The boys want to get back in the win column," Cool Blue coach Dave Hyatt said. "They figure two losses in a row is enough."
The Cool Blues lost their last two games, the only time this season they have lost two games in a row. The losses were against the Strait Pirates and the Windsor Royals.
"Getting the intensity out of the boys shouldn't be a problem," Hyatt added. "Every time we play Pictou, it's a playoff style atmosphere."
The Cool Blues are at the top of the NSJHL standings with 39 points, while the Scotians are in third place with 31 points. Between the two teams sit the Antigonish Bulldogs with 36 points.
At the trade deadline the Blues acquired Paul Ross from the Bridgewater Lumberjacks of the Maritime junior A league and Friday will be his first game in a Blues uniform.
"The boys are all really excited to have Paul playing with us, so that should be another rallying point," Hyatt added.
The Cool Blues will hit the ice tonight at 7:30 p.m.
