E.B. Chandler girls win districts, will host regionals

AMHERST - Through wind, rain and even some snow flurries, the E.B. Chandler girls soccer squad played their hearts out yesterday to win the district playoffs.
With the win, they will now host regionals Tuesday.
Amherst won the opportunity to host the regionals after it beat Oxford by a score of 6-0.
Scoring for Amherst was Alex Hicks and Paige Lewis, each with two goals, while Jessica Rossong and Kailey Kane each had a single.
Amanda Wheaton played another solid game, taking the shutout.
Earlier in the cold, blustery afternoon, E.B. Chandler won against Pugwash by a score of 7-0.
Scoring for Amherst was Alex Hicks with three goals, while Jessica Rossong, Paige Lewis, Danielle Young and Ashley Bickerton had one apiece.
Amanda Wheaton once again earned the shutout for E.B. Chandler.
E.B. Chandler had nine wins and one tie and will host the regionals.
Assistant coaches Dane Smith and Rick Goodwin were very pleased with yesterday's results.
"All the girls came to play and gave it 100 percent, even in the coldest of weather," Goodwin said. "The girls did a great job."
Other schools attending the regionals are Oxford, Truro and Pictou.
The regionals begin at 11 a.m. with Amherst playing Pictou.
