AMHERST - The Amherst Carters Cresting under 14 girls will be looking for a berth in the provincial soccer championships tonight.

Thats when they play against the Truro CC Riders for the Highland soccer championship at the Truro Jr. High School soccer pitch.

With a win tonight the team will move on to the five team round robin provincial championship during the labour day weekend in Truro.

The girls got the chance to play in tonights championship game after beating Pictou County United by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday night in Pictou.

Despite a rain soaked game that prevented the girls from playing to their usual high standards, coach John Rossong says they still played very well.

Scoring for the Amherst was Paige Lewis, Courtney Gilroy and Polegato.

Playing goal for Carters Cresting was Jessica Kinnear.

The game tonight should be a hard fought battle.

In 23 games this season Carters Cresting has a record of 18-2-3, with one of their losses and two of their ties coming at the hands of the CC Riders.

They have yet to beat them this year.

Last year they won the provincial championship in Tier 2 B and this year they are attempting to win the provincial championship in the Tier 2 A division.
