Junior Panthers grab two victories by shutout

The Pugwash Junior Panthers continued its winning streak with two more shutout victories, including a 6-0 victory over the visiting River Hebert Junior Raiders.

PUGWASH - The Pugwash Junior Panthers continued its winning streak with two more shutout victories, including a 6-0 victory over the visiting River Hebert Junior Raiders.

Pugwash opened the scoring with a goal from Kris Allen off a pass from Matt Halverson. One minute later, Allen stole the ball from the visitors and deposited in the net. With two minutes left in the first half, Allen placed the ball nicely for Alex Parker to score.

Pugwash opened the second half with a marker from Matt Halverson. Near the end of the game, rookie Nick Stevens added two markers off passes from James Russell and Alex Mundle.

Jeff Blaikie recorded the shutout.

The Panthers blanked the Parrsboro Warriors 5-0 in its other league play.

Parker opened the scoring off a pass from Allen for Pugwash after 30 minutes of play.

In the second half Pugwash pushed up the score with four goals. Allen scored quickly off a ball from James Russell. Ten minutes later, Tuttle netted the ball passed to him by Parker.

Halverson added another marker after stealing the ball from Parrsboro.

Stevens rounded out the scoring to bring the total to five.

Blaikie recorded the shutout.

The Junior Panthers next contest is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 10 at home against E.B. Chandler Cheetahs.
