Squires nets winner improving Ramblers to 1-1 in event

Matthew Squires was the only player to score in the shootout lifting the Amherst Ramblers to a 2-1 victory over the Moncton Beavers in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League showcase here Sunday.

Matthew Squires was the only player to score in the shootout lifting the Amherst Ramblers to a 2-1 victory over the Moncton Beavers in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League showcase here Sunday.
The Ramblers fought their way back to edge the Beavers 2-1 iat the J. Louis Levesque Arena in the tenth game of the second annual MJAHL Showcase Weekend.
Chuckie Schenbri scored the only goal of the period to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead after the first period.
The Ramblers Jason Power scored the only goal of the second period to tie the game 1-1. There was no scoring in the third period to send the game into overtime which solved nothing.
Squires scored the only goal of the shootout to give the Ramblers the win.
Both goaltenders were sensational as Andrew Flemming stopped 31 of 32 shots for the tie with Matt Cooling stopped 26 of 27 shots also in the tie.
