The Shaunavon Shadows boys basketball team opened their season with three decisive wins during their annual home tournament over the weekend.
They opened the tournament Friday with a 94-40 win over Maple Creek, led by 34 points, seven rebounds, and five assists from Matthew Benesh. Jesse Voll added 18 points and six rebounds. Dillon Carlson filled the stat sheet with 17 points, eight rebounds, seven steals, and five assists.
The Shadows were equally as dominant Saturday in a 95-50 win over Kindersley. Benesh contributed 32 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. Carlson added 28 points, six steals, and five rebounds, while Jesse Voll added nine points and nine rebounds. Jordan Voll chipped in eight points and five rebounds and Derek Thomas had six points and five rebounds.
The Shadows finished off the tournament with an 88-52 win over Coronach. Benesh topped the 30-point plateau for a third straight game with 32 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists. Jesse Voll added 23 points, eight rebounds, and four blocks, while Carlson chipped in 17 points, five assists, and six steals. Jordan Voll also added 10 points.
Maple Creek rebounded from the loss to place second in the tournament with a 67-41 win over Coronach and an 80-51 win over Kindersley.
Next tournament action for the Shadows will be this weekend when they travel to Warman.
