Cody Snyder announced May 26 as the date for the Redhead Equipment Case IH Swift Current Cody Snyder PBR Invitational during a stop in Swift Current earlier today.
The biggest event on the Southwest sporting calendar is quickly approaching as the 2012 Swift Current Cody Snyder PBR Invitational returns for a second go-around.
The wildly successful bull riding event premiered last May and will return to the Credit Union iplex this year on May 26.
“PBR was one of our biggest fundraising events. It was fun to put on, all the volunteers wanted to be a part of it, and it was a fun show,’” said Carol Beyer, Fundraising Director, SCB Event Management.
Last year’s event saved the best for last when Strathmore’s Scott Schiffner scored an 86 aboard ‘Pop Evil’ on the final ride of the night to pocket over $5,500. This year over $15,000 in prize money will be up for grabs.
The already fan-friendly experience will only be enhanced this time around with the addition of the video scoreboard, which will be up and operational for the PBR event. Fans are expected to be able to enjoy an up close look at the cowboys mounting the bulls in the chutes as well as instant replays of each ride.
Redhead Equipment is the title sponsor this year and that sponsorship has helped ensure the video and replay capabilities will be ready to enhance the fan experience.
Among the confirmed competitors is 2009 PBR World Champion Kody Lostroh.
Lostroh, who hails from Longmont, CO, is sixth on the PBR all-time money earners list with over $2.9 million in earnings.
Also confirmed is Merritt, B.C.’s Ty Pozzobon, who is currently the top Canadian rider on the American PBR circuit. Pozzobon and Lostroh are ranked 13th and 14th respectively in the PBR rankings.
Snyder was thrilled to announce that one of the bulls to enter the arena in Swift Current will be ‘State Trooper,’ who he calls “one of the rankest bulls in Canada.”
Beyer is encouraging rodeo fans to get their tickets early to avoid missing out on another spectacular event.
“Oh the fans loved it! Once it went to the public it sold out in two days,” she said of last year’s event.
Swift Current Broncos season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to snap up the first 1,700 tickets to the event, possibly leaving under 1,200 remaining for the general public.
Season ticket holders will be able to purchase their seat when sales open on April 9 at 9 a.m. until April 12 at 5 p.m. The general public can pick up tickets beginning April 16 at 9 a.m.
Crutch’s Plumbing and Heating is helping to present this year’s Party in the Dirt, featuring rising Canadian country music artist Stacey McKitrick.
Party in the Dirt tickets will be available to the season ticket holders for $5 or to the general public for $10 in advance or $15 at the door if any are left over. Only 1,000 tickets for the Party in the Dirt will be available this year.
