Teen athletes hoping to participate in the Jr. SunDogs club volleyball program are invited to attend team tryouts.
The open tryouts provide team organizers with a better idea regarding the number of players interested in the various age categories, but will also serve as an initial tryout for the teams.
The female tryouts will take place at O.M. Irwin School on Dec. 4th and 11th, with the male tryouts scheduled for Dec. 18th. All three scheduled days will be split into three age categories:
• 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. - players born in 1999 and 1998;
• 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. - players born in 1997 and 1996;
• 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. - players born in 1995 and 1994.
Those attending are encouraged to arrive a short time before the scheduled start time to allow for registration and to ask any specific questions regarding the club volleyball program. There is no registration fee to attend these tryout sessions. Players will participate in a series of drills and routines.
The club volleyball program offers 13-18 year olds the chance to be involved with the sport of volleyball through a variety of weekly practices and tournaments. Players are placed into age categories based on their year of birth versus their school grade, so that they are playing with/against individuals of the same age. Depending on the player interest, the organizers are hoping to have teams in a minimum of the 14 and under, 16 and under, and 18 and under age categories in both the male and female divisions.
Parents and players looking for more information on the tryouts or club volleyball in general can contact the organizers at email@example.com or by calling 774-9190.
