JOGGINS - After burning up motocross tracks throughout the Maritimes and the rest of Canada in the 2010 season, Damon Burbine continued his torrid pace when he kicked off his 2011 season last weekend at the Josh Damery Arena Cross at the Tantramar Civic Centre in Sackville, N.B.
The seven-year-old racer, who is from Joggins, came in second place behind Moncton’s Jackson Landry.
“He is very pleased with how he raced,” his mom, Stacey Gilroy, said.
Burbine moved up in age category this year and is now in the 50 cc class for kids aged 7-9.
“It’s his first year competing against bigger kids, so he’s happy with his performance,” Gilroy said. “The kid who got number one will be good competition for Damon this year.”
