TORONTO - Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke will not fire his coach this season, saying Ron Wilson's job is "as safe as the gold in the treasury at Fort Knox."
Burke addressed reporters at the Air Canada Centre on Thursday morning.
"There is not going to be a coaching change," Burke said. "That has not been considered, discussed, or whatever."
The Leafs have lost four in a row heading into Thursday night's game at home against the Philadelphia Flyers.
The team has not scored a power-play goal in any of those losses.
Burke also said he would not ask Tomas Kaberle to waive his no-trade clause. He said it would be "different" if the veteran defenceman approached him and offered a list of teams he would play for.
"I will not ask Tomas Kaberle to waive his no-trade clause," Burke said. "I sent his agent a note yesterday."
