Cyclones make it to semifinal at Hawks tourney
TRURO - The Colchester Harmony Grove Home Sales Cyclones were knocked out in the semifinal of the recent Halifax Hawks Christmas Hockey Tournament.
The Cyclones were downed 4-1 by Dartmouth. Emilee Burris scored on an assist from April MacKay while Ashley Morrell tended the net. Alanna Davidson and Abby Boutilier received player of the game honours.
The Cyclones knocked off Halifax 4-1 in their second game of the event. MacKay scored twice with Jamie Forsyth and Burris getting the others. Burris and Caitlin McCavour added two assists each with Forsyth, Davidson and Taylor Lynds getting singles. Jesse Picard was the winning goalie while McCavour and Lynds picked up player of the game honours.
The Cyclones opened the tournament with an 8-1 thrashing of TASA. Burris led with two goals while McCavour, MacKay, Lynds, Smith, Mary Archibald and Abby Boutilier added singles. Collecting assists were McCavour (2), Natalie Cudmore, Archibald, Forsyth, Smith, Johnson and Molly Wood. Morrell claimed the win and Jessica Johnson and Smith were players of the game.

Fly tying club being created
TRURO - A group of Colchester County fishermen are looking to start a fly tying club.
The group is set to meet Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Truro Rugby Club on Farnham Mill Road. All fly tiers are welcome and there is a $2 cover charge. For more information contact Robert Gunderson at 895-1907.
