Pinkney rinks record at 2-2

LIVERPOOL - Truro's Colleen Pinkney fell to .500 Thursday at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women's curling championship at Liverpool Curling Club.
Pinkney, who opened the event Wednesday with a pair of wins, fell 10-3 to Dartmouth's Nancy McConnery after suffering a 9-6 setback to Glooscap's Jocelyn Nix.
Pinkney's foursome also includes mate Wendy Currie, second Karen Hennigar, lead Susan Creelman, alternate Shelley MacNutt and coach Judy Burgess.
Pinkney, the current Canadian senior women's champ, is set to do battle with Mary-Anne Arsenault (2-2) at 1 p.m. before meeting No. 1 seed Jill Mouzar (3-1) of Mayflower.
McConnery jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first end and added four more points in the third to take a 7-1 stranglehold on the game, which was finished after seven ends.
Nix spotted herself a 3-0 lead in the first end before Pinkney battled back with one in the second. Nix extended her lead to 5-1 by the third end and Pinkney made it 5-3 in the fourth.
Pinkney closed to 7-6 with a pair of points in the ninth end but Nix iced it with two in the 10th.
