Huskies edge E.B. Chandler in tourney finale

SPRINGHILL - Breanna Gallant scored 17 points and Nicole Corcoran added 15 as the Hernewood Huskies defeated the E.B. Chandler Lady Cheetahs of Amherst 48-45 to win the championship at a junior girls basketball tournament in Springhill over the weekend.
Maggie Fraser added 10 for Hernewood while Lauren MacEachern scored 17 and Maitland Terrio had 15 for Amherst.
MacEachern and Kennedy Black each had 13 points as E.B. Chandler defeated Astral Drive 47-36 in the semifinal.
Maitland Terrio with seven, Sam Ripley and Emily Dunne with four each and Jessica Wilson with two also scored for Chandler.
Hernewood defeated Pugwash 50-47 in the other semifinal with Nicole Corcoran scoring 14 for the Huskies and Breanna Gallant adding 12.
Alanna Stevens and Corbyn Patriquin each had 14 for Pugwash while Justine Benjamin had six points and Emma Blair and Hannah Wood each had two.
Sydnee Balser scored 20 points, Stephanie McCormick and Sydney Stevens each had six points as Springhill defeated M.E. Callaghan from Prince Edward Island 36-34.
Emily Varner added two and Breanna Casey had one for the Springhill school.
Brooke Gaudette and Alyson Hennigar each scored eight for M.E. Callaghan.
Springhill's other results were not available.
Lauren MacEachern scored 20 points and Ashley MacEachern each had 11 points as E.B. Chandler defeated Pugwash 41-40.
Andrea Comeau and Maitland Terrio each scored four points and Kennedy Black added two.
Justine Benjamin scored 16 for Pugwash while Corbyn Patriquin had 14 while Allana Stevens had six and Emma Blair four.
Lauren MacEachern scored 12 points and Kennedy Black and Andrea Comeau each had six as E.B. Chandler defeated M.E. Callaghan 33-18.
Jessica Wilson with four, Maitland Terrio with three and Maegan Morrison with two also scored.
In Pugwash's other game, Corbyn Patriquin scored 11 and Alannah Stevens nine as Pugwash defeated M.E. Callagahan 37-35.

Alanna Stevens scored six points and Josie Mingo scored four for Pugwash while Mandy Shea had 12 for M.E. Callaghan.
