AMHERST - Paige Lewis had the hot hand as the Amherst Regional High School JV Vikettes defeated the North Colchester Mustangs 60-41 to claim third at the ARHS junior varsity basketball tournament here Saturday.
Lewis had 18 points for the JV Vikettes while Angel Downey had 14 and Emily Pipes had eight. Also scoring were Rachel MacDonald and Rachel Gamblin with six each, Ashton Hunter with four, Chelsey Gray with three and Elyse Ferguson with two.
Musquodoboit won the tournament with a 46-42 win over Hants East with Hailey Messervey scoring 18 points for the winners and Jenny Smith chipping in 19 for Hants East.
On Friday, Amherst defeated Tantramar 48-28 with Emily Pipes scoring 18 points and Rachel Gamblin adding 11.
Ashton Hunter with six, Paige Lewis with four, Amelia Fuentes and Chelsey Gray with three, Rachel MacDonald with two and Angel Downey with one also scored for Amherst.
In their other contest, Paige Lewis had 15 points as Amherst lost 44-36 to Musquodoboit.
Rachel Gamblin with six, Rachel MacDonald, Ashton Hunter and Lauren Murray with four each and Emily Pipes with three also scored.
Amherst is also hosting a JV tournament on the weekend of Jan. 8-9.
