Goergl edges Vonn to capture World Cup super-G race at Lake Louise

LAKE LOUISE, Alta. - Elisabeth Goergl of Austria spoiled American Lindsey Vonn's bid for three World Cup wins in three days at Lake Louise by winning Sunday's super-G.

Goergl posted a time of one minute 21.91 seconds, just .03 ahead of Vonn. Ingrid Jacquemod of France was third in 1:22.93.
Vonn won the season-opening downhill races Friday and Saturday at Lake Louise. Canadian Emily Brydon was second and third respectively in the downhills.
Kelly VanderBeek of Kitchener, Ont., was the top Canadian on Sunday in 11th, Britt Janyk of Whistler, B.C, finished 13th, Brydon of Fernie, B.C., was 17th and Larisa Yurkiw of Owen Sound, Ont., placed 24th.
Sunday's race was held under sunny skies with a temperature of minus-23 C.
