AMHERST - The Amherst Vikings won all three games at the Cumberland County Senior Boys Basketball Tournament in Oxford to capture their third consecutive tournament win.
In their final game, the Vikings jumped to an early 41-19 lead at half and easily defeated the Pugwash Panthers 68-45.
Dylan Rushton was selected MVP for his stellar performance as point guard and Shaddy Mohamad was given the sportsmanship award.
Richard Hope led the Vikings with 20 points. Other scorers are: Kevin Lepage, 11 points; Ryan Budd, 10 points; Sammy Mohamad, 8 points; Dylan Rushton, 6 points; Shaddy Mohamad, 6 points; Ryan Thompson, 5 points; CJ Curtis, two points.
The Vikings also defeated Oxford Golden Bears 63-57 and Springhill Golden Eagles 57-37.
The tournament gave the local fans an opportunity to see Cumberland County's best basketball players in action.
The Vikings have extended their winning streak to 11 games and will be returning back to action on Thursday, Dec. 10 where they will be facing Mathieu-Martin at 8 p.m. at the Annual Tantramar Christmas Tournament.
