Erin Dorn and Paige Black led the charge with 14 points each for the Oxford Lady Golden Bears senior girls basketball team in their 70-45 loss in the championship game to the NNEC Gryphons at the Marshland Invitational Tournament last weekend at Amherst Regional High School.
Also scoring for the Bears in the game were Emily Davis with nine, Madison Swan with six and Karen Brookins with two points.
In their first game of the tournament against the Pugwash Panthers, Oxford came out on top 48-40.
Scoring for the Bears were Erin Dorn with 16 points, Swan with 10, Black with six, Casey Perrin with five, Davis with four, Cassie Newell with three and Brookins and Heidi Dormiedy with two points each.
Scoring for the Panthers were Geneva Hayward with 10, Katelynn Carver with eight, Stephanie Rhodeni with six, Jenna Oikle and Morgan Young with four each, and Bre Haley and Hayley Gates with three points each.
The Bears also tipped off against the Tantramar Titans, winning 48-42.
Leading the way for the Bears were Swan with 20 points and Dorn with 17.
Also scoring for the Bears were Brookins, Black and Davis with four each, while Dormiedy had two points and Newell had one.
Scoring for Tantramar were Lindsey Niles with 14, Katie Cadman with 10, Autumn Embree and Revekah Estabrooks with four each, Morgan Parsons with three, Jennifer Guptill, Victoria Tower and Jenna Field with two points each and Chloe MacIssac with one point.
Golden Bear Milton King led the way with 25 points as the boys lost in the championship game 83-71 to Hants North, during the Oxford Golden Bears senior boys basketball team's first invitational tournament of the season last weekend at Oxford Regional High School.
Other Bear scorers included Mike Reid with 13 points and Dylan Ellis with 12.
In their first game of the tournament, which was a 72-74 loss to the Pugwash Panthers, it was King with 30 points, Reid with 10 and Cody Black with 10. King was named the MVP of the game.
In their second game, which was an 87-49 win over New Germany, King once again led the way with 25 points, while Ellis had 18 and Josh Dorn had nine points.
This weekend Oxford will host another tournament at Oxford Regional High School.
The Amherst Vikings, the Springhill Golden Eagles and the Pugwash Panthers will be the other teams participating in the tournament.
Coach Andy Moore encouraged fans to come out and show their support during the weekend, as the games are expected to be competitive.
