Cougars perfect at tune-up event

TRURO - The Cobequid Cougars won all three of their matches at a high school girls tune-up volleyball tournament on the weekend in Antigonish.
The event was hosted by the Dr. John Hugh Gillis Royals ahead of Division 1 provincials, hosted by the Riverview Royals, at Cape Breton University in Sydney this weekend.
The Cougars scored straight sets wins over Riverview and C.P. Allen and defeated the Royals 2-1 to finish 3-0, the best record at the round-robin event.
Kiersten Cormier led the Cougars with 24 kills and 18 blocks. Anastasia Callaghan collected 23 digs and 15 kills along with 28 perfect passes while Sam Fanning counted 12 kills. Bethany Ferguson led Cobequid with 10 aces and only one missed serve.
