Bearcats host Slammers in a contest for league supremacy

TRURO - The Truro Bearcats are going to have their hands full tonight keeping the red light turned off when some of the top snipers come to town.
The Woodstock Slammers arrive without a regulation loss (13-0-0-1) thanks to some of the league's top scorers. Ten players have at least a point per game this season.
The Bearcats (11-1-1-0) have not played them this season but know the talent that exists on the New Brunswick team's roster.
"They're scoring seven and eight goals a game. They have a good offensive club," said coach Shawn Evans. "We have our hands full."
The Bearcats' recipe for success will not change, however.
"We have to stay out of the box. We have to be physical and make them earn every inch of the ice," Evans said.
The contest is a battle between division leaders who have succeeded in different ways. Truro had allowed the fewest goals (before last night's action) with 21 while the Slammers were tied for the league lead in burying the biscuit with 88 goals.
Entering last night's contest in Amherst Truro was 100 per cent healthy despite many teams grappling with players suffering from flu-like symptoms throughout the province.
Evans said it will take a team effort to defeat the high-scoring Slammers.
"It's a good challenge for us," Evans said. "They have a good, solid team and they can beat you in many ways. They're solid in goal, they're solid on defence and solid up front."
