SPRINGHILL - Sandy Livingston Jr.'s season on the Carquest Maritime Pro Stock Tour appears to be at an end.
At practice Saturday for the Parts for Trucks/Lucas Oil 200 in Oyster Bed Bridge, P.E.I., Livingston's engine let go on the first lap.
With that, the season is at a standstill. Despite his team's efforts to land a major sponsor, none were to be had, and without one the funds are not there to replace the motor.
"We'll be back," Livingston's father, Sandy Sr., said Monday.
"It may take a year or two of hard work and a lot of scrimping to save money, but we'll be back."
The lone professional race team in Cumberland County was in 20th place among 44 drivers on the tour this season with 836 points heading into last weekend's event.
The team is still hoping to secure some sponsorship, but prospects appear bleak.
"It sure would be nice," Livingston Sr., said. "But it doesn't look like it will happen."
