WOODSTOCK, Ont. - The father of murdered eight-year-old Tori Stafford has set a date to begin a bike journey to Alberta to raise money for the charity Child Find Ontario.
Rodney Stafford says he plans to leave Woodstock, Ont., on Aug. 5 for the 3,500-kilometre trek, and hopes to arrive in Alberta one month later
Tori's remains were located by police July 19 in a farm field in southwestern Ontario, and that prompted Rodney Stafford to wait a few extra days before starting the trip.
After reaching Alberta, he'll drive to a mountain his daughter once visited to release one purple balloon.
Stafford says Tori loved that colour and this will be his way of saying goodbye.
A Woodstock, Ont., man and woman await trial on first-degree murder and kidnapping charges in Tori's death.
