PHOENIX - The Phoenix Suns have finally confirmed signing Canadian point guard Steve Nash to a two-year contract extension.
The 35-year-old Victoria native and two-time NBA MVP agreed last week to an extension worth US$22 million.
The 13-year NBA veteran has played the last five seasons in Phoenix, leading the Suns to two Western Conference finals.
Nash said on a conference call Monday that he can see himself playing out the rest of his career in Phoenix.
He admitted a move to New York to play for the Knicks for former Suns coach Mike D'Antoni was an attractive option, considering his off-season home is New York. But he added he was committed to the Suns organization and its fans.
Nash is of only nine players in NBA history to collect back-to-back league MVP awards.
