GRAND FALLS-WINDSOR, N.L. - A Newfoundland man is dead after falling out of his boat and into the Exploits River.
RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor were called to the river near the Sir Robert Bond Bridge shortly before 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The body of Reginald Smart, 64, of Botwood was recovered about five hours later.
The Mounties said Smart was fishing in his four-metre aluminum boat when he apparently fell in.
Smart had been wearing a life-jacket but it's believed he had unfastened it to access fishing gear in his inside pockets.
