Oxford honours top student athletes

OXFORD - It was a big night for multi-sport athlete Nick Dormiedy winning the Hart Trophy and being named Oxford Regional High School's senior male athlete of the year.
Dedicated in 1989, the Hart Trophy is given annually to the athlete who exemplifies excellence in athletics, academics, volunteer experience and coaching in the school or community.
Dormiedy was also named the male athlete making the most outstanding contribution to athletics at the school while also earning Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation exemplary participation and scholar-athlete awards as well as the senior boys badminton award and the 3-D award on the senior boys soccer team.
Karen Brookins was named the school's senior female athlete of the year while Mackenzie Stewart is the junior male athlete of the year and Cassie Newell the junior female athlete of the year.
Megan Purdy was honoured for making an outstanding contribution to ORHS athletics while NSSAF exemplary participation awards were also presented to Megan Graves and coach Alfred King, and NSSAF scholar-athlete awards also went to Madison Swan (junior female), Mackenzie Stewart (junior male) and Megan Graves (senior female).

Most outstanding - Mackenzie Stewart; most improved - Patrick Redmond; 3-D - Lachlan Whalen.
Senior girls sccer
Most outstanding - Karen Brookins; most improved - Allie Duguay; 3-D - Megan Purdy.
Senior boys soccer
Most outstanding - Bryan Margeson; most improved - Travis Griffin; 3-D - Nick Dormiedy.
Cross country
Junior girls - Megan Thompson; junior boys - Brody Hicks; intermediate girls - Abigail Wood; intermediate boys - Milton King.
Junior girls basketball
Most outstanding - Emily Davis; most improved - Chantaya Bragg; 3-D - Cassie Newell.
Junior boys basketball
Most outstanding - Dylan Ellis; most improved - Lachlan Whalen; 3-D - Mackenzie Stewart.
Senior girls basketball
Most outstanding - Erin Dorn; most improved - Paige Black; 3-D - Madison Swan.
Senior boys basketball
Most outstanding - Bryan Margeson; most improved - Cody Black; 3-D - Mike Reid; 3,000-point club - Bryan Margeson.
