TRURO - Colchester County council is considering giving $50,000 to the
Debert Military History Society for upgrades to the Debert Military Museum.
The completion of work on the building's roof, walls, floors and windows will cost $55,716.
"This is the last building on the whole site to preserve the military history," dating back to the Second World War, said Mayor Bob Taylor.
"It's a wise decision on our part to (support the request)," added Coun. Tom Taggart.
"Debert has a real significant history and it's worthwhile to preserve it … we will benefit from it over time."
Council committee unanimously voted to suggest to council at the end of the month to give the $50,000, which would come out of the reserve fund from CFS Debert house sales, Debert Air Industrial Park and the village of Debert.
