Parrsboro -

Parrsboro Regional High School's girls and boy's softball teams are off to the South Shore to play in Provincials this upcoming weekend.

After placing first place in Districts and then becoming Northumberland Region Division 3 boys Champions the boys softball team is off to Bridgewater for Provincials.
The girls placed second in Districts and first place in the Northumberland Region Division 3 and are off for their provincial playoffs in New Germany.
"It feels great to have won the Regional," said Parrsboro girls coach Charlene Smith. "Softball is a sport that can go either way, so to come out on top feels really good."
What makes it even more special is the age of her very young team.
"Our pitcher, Aleshia Canning, is in Grade 8," said Smith. "She's a new pitcher for our team this year and she's been very consistent and very strong for us."
Also, the team has only five senior players.
"Though they are young team, they have a great dynamic," said Smith. "These girls play a lot of sports together, so they communicate very well. They're a fun bunch of girls."
How does she expect her team to do at the provincials?
"I think we'll give everybody a good run," said Smith. "But like I said, softball can go so many ways - hopefully we'll be on top of our game."
Win or lose, the Parrsboro girls softball team will be a team to be reckoned with in the future.
"It will be a team that will grow," added Smith. "It's a young team just starting out. They have many years to advance and improve, so I'm looking forward to the years to come."
Both teams will be leaving Thursday evening to make the journey to the South Shore to participate in Provincials Friday and Saturday.
