CALGARY - Ontario and Alberta will play for first place Thursday night at the Canadian men's curling championship.
Ontario skip Glenn Howard stole three points in the ninth end to get by Mark Dacey of Nova Scotia 9-6 in the morning draw.
Howard improves to 9-1 and will meet Alberta's Kevin Martin tonight with first place on the line.
Martin puts his 9-0 record on the line this afternoon against Nova Scotia.
Brad Gushue of Newfoundland and Labrador had a chance to earn a playoff berth this morning but lost 8-3 to Manitoba's Jeff Stoughton.
Still in the playoff hunt are Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba, Quebec's Jean-Michel Menard and veteran Russ Howard from New Brunswick.
