Canadians earn gold in 10-metre synchro event at Grand Prix event

ROSTOCK, Germany. - Montreal's Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion of Laval, Que., combined to win gold in the women's 10-metre synchro event Sunday at a Grand Prix diving competition.
It was the first international victory for the two, who've also won bronze medals at the world championships and Commonwealth Games. Filion also won a silver medal Friday in the women's individual 10-metre event.
Benfeito and Filion amassed 312.30 points for the victory. China's Ni Chen and Lindan Deng were second with 300.36 while Germans Nora Subschinski and Josephine Moller took third with 298.20.
German Patrick Hausding won the men's 10-metre tower with 505.10 points. Chinese divers Yang Liguang and Yang Xiang were second and third with 480.00 and 476.75 points, respectively.
Victoria's Riley McCormick was a career-best fifth with 444.50 points.
