TRURO - Anyone interested in having input in the region's proposed civic centre may wish to mark Wednesday on their
calendar.
That is the date for a public meeting set for 7 p.m. in Truro council chambers.
"What this is leading to is, the next step is creating the design," said Don Cameron, co-chairman of the users group committee for a proposed regional centre.
Meetings have already been held with several special interest groups in an attempt to determine some of the necessary requirements, such as ice surface, pool, gym and track use, etc., but no formal efforts have been made to determine general public requirements.
Cameron encouraged everyone with any interest to attend Wednesday's session to determine what other needs should be considered, such as the type of multi-use meeting and conference rooms or other things that people believe should be included in a new civic centre.
"They shouldn't take for granted that someone is taking care of all the needs," Cameron said.
A call for expressions of interest has gone out nation-wide for bids on designing the facility and Cameron said design work should begin by this summer.
He is hoping a sod turning can occur by spring 2010.
