VICTORIA - Defending champion Jennifer Jones is no longer undefeated at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.
Saskatchewan's Stefanie Lawton handed the Winnipeg skip her first loss of the Canadian women's curling championships Tuesday morning.
Lawton scored one in the 10th end to edge Jones 7-6 in the ninth draw.
The loss dropped the Jones rink to 5-1, putting her in a tie for first with B.C.'s Marla Mallett, who hammered Manitoba 12-4.
Alberta's Cheryl Bernard was alone in third place at 4-2 after an 8-6 loss to Newfoundland and Labrador.
In the other early game, Krista McCarville improved to 3-3 with a 9-6 win over Nova Scotia.
