The New Brunswick and Northern Ontario men's rinks are the only unbeaten teams left after six draws at the Canadian junior curling championships.
Stephen Burgess's New Brunswick squad improved to 4-0, scoring five in the third end en route to an 8-4 win over Yukon's Thomas Scoffin in Draw 6 action Monday.
That win followed a 5-4 victory over Kevin Yablonski's Alberta rink in Draw 5. It was Yablonski's first loss of the tournament
"We knew (the Albertans) were sweeping the competition, their first three games weren't really close games," said Burgess. "We weren't playing our best in our first two wins but we knew that we would come out and play better against Alberta."
Northern Ontario is also 4-0 after Cody Johnston's team cruised to a 9-2 win over Colin Miller of the Northwest Territories. That win came after a close victory against Quebec in Draw 4. Northern Ontario scored two in the ninth and stole one in the 10th to down Quebec's Andrew Leigh 5-3.
On the women's side, there's a logjam atop the standings with five teams at 3-1: Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
