New Brunswick, Northern Ontario still unbeaten at junior curling championship

The New Brunswick and Northern Ontario men's rinks are the only unbeaten teams left after six draws at the Canadian junior curling championships.
Stephen Burgess's New Brunswick squad improved to 4-0, scoring five in the third end en route to an 8-4 win over Yukon's Thomas Scoffin in Draw 6 action Monday.
That win followed a 5-4 victory over Kevin Yablonski's Alberta rink in Draw 5. It was Yablonski's first loss of the tournament
"We knew (the Albertans) were sweeping the competition, their first three games weren't really close games," said Burgess. "We weren't playing our best in our first two wins but we knew that we would come out and play better against Alberta."
Northern Ontario is also 4-0 after Cody Johnston's team cruised to a 9-2 win over Colin Miller of the Northwest Territories. That win came after a close victory against Quebec in Draw 4. Northern Ontario scored two in the ninth and stole one in the 10th to down Quebec's Andrew Leigh 5-3.
On the women's side, there's a logjam atop the standings with five teams at 3-1: Alberta, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
Saskatchewan grabbed a share of first in Draw 6 when Brooklyn Lemon's team scored one in the 10th end for a 6-5 win over Newfoundland and Labrador's Erin Porter.
Meanwhile, New Brunswick's Ashley Howard scored four in the sixth end in a 10-4 win over Yukon's Sarah Koltun.
Manitoba improved to 3-1 with an 8-3 win over British Columbia's Kelly Shimizu. Kaitlyn Lawes' rink blew the game open with three in the ninth end.
Alberta and Ontario had the sixth draw off but were already at 3-1.
The lopsided score of the night came when Northern Ontario's Vanessa Maloney scored seven in the sixth and final end in a 15-4 rout of Katie Maksymowich of the Northwest Territories.
In the other women's Draw 6 game, Prine Edward Island beat Nova Scotia 9-4.
In Draw 5 action, it was: Alberta 9 New Brunswick 5; Ontario 5 Quebec 2; Nova Scotia 11 Newfoundland 6 and B.C. 9 Northwest Territories 1.
In Draw 4, it was: Manitoba 11 P.E.I. 2; Quebec 7 Northern Ontario 6; Ontario 5 Alberta 4; and Yukon 7 Saskatchewan 6.
In other men's Draw 6 scores, it was: Newfoundland 8 Saskatchewan 7; B.C. 9 Manitoba 7; and P.E.I. 9 Nova Scotia 3.
In Draw 5 scores it was: Ontario 9 Quebec 7; Newfoundland 8 Nova Scotia 3; and B.C. 14 Northwest Territories 2.
In Draw 4 action, it was: Prince Edward Island 8 Manitoba 4; Alberta 11 Ontario 4; and Yukon 5 Saskatchewan 4.
