TORONTO The Rexall Centre will be the host site for Canadas upcoming Davis Cup tennis tie against Ecuador, Tennis Canada announced Tuesday.

The Americas Zone Group I tie will be played March 6-8 on the facilitys indoor hardcourts.

Last years team had three members from Ontario so its fitting to return to Toronto, Canadian captain Martin Laurendeau said in a release. The tennis, training and medical facilities in Toronto will be exceptional for Canada and our opponents from Ecuador. It should be a great tie.

It will mark the eighth time in Davis Cup history that Canada has played in Toronto, but only the third occasion since 1958. The only other Davis Cup tie contested at Rexall Centre was outdoors in 2005 when Canada lost to Belarus. The outdoor venue is home to the annual Rogers Cup Toronto event.

The Canadian team members will be selected at a later date. If the Canadians win, they would next play a second-round tie at Peru in May for a chance to advance to a World Group playoff.

The 2008 team consisted of Torontos Daniel Nestor, Frank Dancevic of Niagara Falls, Ont., Frederic Niemeyer of Deauville, Que., and Peter Polansky of Thornhill, Ont.

Its always great to play at home, said Nestor, who serves as a player and coach. Ive enjoyed much success in Toronto and for a few of us guys, we dont get a lot of chances to play in front of family and friends. It will be pretty special.

Canada has a 1-4 overall record against Ecuador.
