TRURO - New Year's Eve celebrations in Central Colchester will have a new venue Jan. 1.
The Town of Truro will hold festivities in Victoria Park after many years in front of the police station.
Parks and recreation director Doug MacKenzie said when problems arose securing a tent for the event, staff looked at alternative sites for the annual activities.
"We decided on Victoria Park as a very suitable, appropriate location," he said. "We look forward to having the main entertainment, the bonfires and the fireworks happening out of that area."
Some activities will still be held in the civic block, including entertainment in the old Normal College.
The evening will also include a marionettes show, free swim at Centennial Pool and free skating at Colchester Legion Stadium.
"People do enjoy being able to get out for a couple of hours and do something with family or friends," MacKenzie said, noting the events are always well attended.
