Lady Golden Eagles fly into new season

SPRINGHILL - The Springhill High School Golden Eagles home opener comes in the form of the 14th annual Schiefer's Ultramar Tip-Off Tournament here this weekend.
The Golden Eagles, who finished last season as the NSSAF Division III girls bronze medallists, will be joined in the four-team round robin event by the Memorial High Magic of North Sydney, Port Hawkesbury's SAERC Saints and county rival Oxford High Golden Bears.
Springhill, with more than half of its squad comprised of first year players, will host Memorial Magic at 5:15 on Friday, followed by Oxford and SAERC at 7 p.m.
Saturday sees Oxford and Memorial at 9 a.m., followed by SHS and SAERC at 10:45 a.m. The 12:30 p.m. contest is the all-Cape Breton affair, followed by Oxford and Springhill closing at 2:15 p.m.
