AMHERST - The Amherst Ramblers have a punishing schedule on tap for the weekend.
Tonight, they travel to Yarmouth to take on the Mariners.
On Saturday, they return home to face off against Dieppe.
Then on Sunday, they travel to Summerside where they will play against the Capitals in the afternoon.
"Last weekend was a rough weekend for us," Ramblers Coach Corey Crocker said. "But a hockey season is always full of peaks and valleys, and the goal is to smooth out the valleys and to have more peaks."
The Ramblers will be playing their 15th game of a 54-game schedule tonight.
"The season is still very young and the players are becoming more familiar with certain systems each and every game," Crocker said.
What Crocker asks most from his team is a hard work ethic.
"This team can always guarantee a good work ethic," Crocker added. "The boys put in a good night of work when they step on the ice."
A hard work ethic is a necessity in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League.
"There is little if any separation between teams in this league," Crocker added. "You can't take a night off."
Tonight will be the first time the Ramblers have met the Mariners this season. When the Ramblers played the Commando's on Oct. 13, the Ramblers lost 2-1 in overtime.
Sunday's matchup against the Capitals will also be the first time the two teams have met this season.
The puck drops against the Commandos at Amherst Stadium at 7 p.m., on Saturday night.
