Bible Hill native Jody Jamieson will be shooting for his second straight Little Brown Jug victory today when he drives Santanna Blue Chip in this year's classic at The Delaware Ohio Fair Grounds.
Jody co-owns the three-year-old colt in partnership with his father Carl of Wallace and two others.
Santanna Blue Chip has already earned more than $1 million in two years of racing and is favored to win a berth in the final. The top three finishers in the three elimination heats advance to the final
Santanna Blue Chip will face Meadowlands Pace winner Art Official, the only horse to defeat Somebeachsomewhere, in the third elimination. Both horses are expected to advance.
There are three horses with Maritime connections among the 20 starters.
Adios Pace winner Shadow Play, trained and co-owned by Dr. Ian Moore of Charlottetown, and Giddy Up Lucky, a colt co-owned by Reg Petitpas of Shediac Bridge, N.B., are among the six starters in the first elimination.
Truro Raceway will carry the Little Brown Jug simulcast.
