Kelly makes most of Quebec racing debut
AMHERST - During his first foray onto the Quebec racing circuit, Nathan Kelly isn't about to complain about an 11th place finish.
"I finished 11th out of 17, but considering it was my first time racing there I think I did pretty good," the grade 10 student at ARHS said.
Not only was it the first time on the Quebec Vega Cup kart circuit, where he races in the Rotary Max Class, but it was also his first time racing his new kart.
"The track was bigger and faster and the car ran really well," Kelly said. "It was a lot of fun."
That could be an understatement.
He cranked his cart up to 70 mph and raced a time only .7 seconds off the world champs time. The world champion races on the same circuit.
Kelly races this coming weekend on the Maritime circuit on PEI.
