HALIFAX Pop superstar Paul McCartney will not play a large outdoor concert in Halifax this summer.

Concert promoter Harold MacKay tells CBC and CTV that there isnt enough time to organize a concert featuring the former Beatle at the Halifax Common on Canada Day.

CTV says McCartney could still play in the city next year.

The last concert held on the Common in September 2006 attracted 50,000 fans to see the Rolling Stones.

A group representing McCartneys tour staff, including his tour director and production manager, recently checked out the proposed concert site.

MacKay says they were impressed by the venue.
