NEW WATERFORD, N.S. - Another hypodermic needle has been found embedded upright in a bench in Cape Breton, this one with blood on it.
Const. Gary Fraser of the Cape Breton Regional Police said the needle was discovered in a park bench at Colliery Lands Park in New Waterford.
''I found one sticking upright in the bench and another on the ground, both with dried blood on them,'' he said Monday. ''If the intravenous drug user has hepatitis C or HIV, it could transmit to the person that gets stuck by it.''
Last week, a resident out for a walk located three needles upright in a bench in the same park.
Fraser said there definitely was intent to harm.
''It's alarming to think that within 48 hours two more needles were found,'' he said.
