NEW GLASGOW - New Glasgow - A diver with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team pulled a body from the East River around 10 a.m. this morning.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim until next of kin are notified.

Ken MacDonald, New Glasgow Police Service, said police were alerted to a possible drowning Sunday afternoon after a caller reported footprints onto the river from Glasgow Square Theatre. The ice was broken and a ball cap was found near the opening.

MacDonald says police have not received a report of a missing person in the area.
